Cover Letters / Senior Backend Engineer
Draft 2
Dear hiring team,
I am applying for the Senior Backend Engineer role. In my current position I designed HTTP services consumed by web and mobile applications, and I maintained the PostgreSQL schemas behind our orders service, tuning slow queries as traffic grew.
I have also onboarded two new engineers to our payments codebase, and I would welcome the chance to do more of that in your team.

REST API development
Strong evidenceRelated wording — strong evidence
The resume never says “REST API”, but it describes designing HTTP services that other applications consume. That is the substance of the requirement.
Designed HTTP services consumed by web and mobile applications.
Consider: Name the API style and scale if you know them, for example the number of client applications.
What a Check Covers
Can the document be read? And does it show the evidence this job asks for? ATSCheck keeps those apart, so a formatting problem is never confused with a missing skill.
Whether text extracts cleanly and in order, whether layout gets in the way, and whether sections, dates and contact details are recognisable.

How strongly the resume evidences this job: required and preferred requirements, skills and relevant experience, weighed by importance.
71example
The job description is separated into individual requirements, each marked required or preferred, so nothing is judged against a vague whole.
Every requirement shows the lines that support it, quoted verbatim from the resume — or states plainly that no evidence was found.
Prioritised, specific fixes: what matters most for this role first, what is optional, and why each one matters.

The quote is checked against the resume text before it is shown, so the evidence is always something the person actually wrote.
Truthful Resume Improvement
Rewrite suggestions make a line more specific and easier to read. They never add an employer, a number, a tool or a responsibility you did not describe — and when a result would help, ATSCheck asks you for it.

Cover letters draw on the evidence in your resume and the requirements of the role. Generated text is checked for claims your resume does not support before you see it.

Synthetic example dataIn my current role I designed HTTP services used by both our web and mobile applications1, and I looked after the PostgreSQL schemas and query performance behind our orders service2. That work is close to what your team describes for this role, and I would welcome the chance to talk about it.

It is ATSCheck’s own measure of how well an applicant tracking system is likely to read your resume: whether text extracts cleanly and in order, whether layout and formatting cause problems, whether sections and contact details are recognisable, and how clear the content is. When you add a job description, ATSCheck also calculates a job-match score from the evidence for each requirement. Both numbers are calculated consistently, so the same resume and job give the same result, and are shown with a text label: Strong, Good, Needs improvement or Weak.
No tool can promise that. Employers use many different applicant tracking systems, configured in different ways, and ATSCheck is not affiliated with any of them. ATSCheck is an independent analysis of common compatibility factors, so treat the result as guidance rather than a prediction of how a particular employer’s system will behave.
Resumes are private by default. On the Free plan, results are kept for 30 days. On paid plans, saved resumes, jobs and analyses stay until you delete them or your account. Files are stored privately in the EU (Ireland), behind access controls. You can delete them at any time.
No. Resume, candidate and job content is not used by EmKeTech to train AI models, and only the text needed for the specific analysis is processed.
ATSCheck suggests targeted rewrites for specific lines, rather than generating a new resume. Suggestions preserve your facts: they can make wording clearer or more specific, but they do not add employers, dates, tools, numbers or responsibilities you have not described. Where a measurable result would help, ATSCheck asks you to add one if you know it.
No. Hiring decisions depend on many things ATSCheck cannot see or influence. ATSCheck helps you understand how your resume reads and where the evidence for a role is strong or missing, so you can decide what to improve.
Not yet. We are preparing ATSCheck for its relaunch and are not opening new accounts or taking payments until then. If you already have an account, you can still sign in.
Pro will be €9.99 a month. It matches requirements even when your resume says them in different words, quotes the evidence from your resume for each one, and adds detailed recommendations, suggested rewrites that keep your facts, cover letters written from your own experience, a saved library, history and comparison. A fair monthly usage limit applies.
Curated will be €299 a month, and it opens with the relaunch. It is a done-for-you service rather than a bigger version of the tool: the ATSCheck team curates and optimises your CV, drafts cover letters, optimises your LinkedIn profile if you want, applies to roles only with your go-ahead and using the facts you give us, and helps you prepare for interviews, with up to 10 requests in any 30 days. Pro features are not included. Like any service, we cannot promise interviews or job offers.
Hiring will be €29.99 a month with one seat included, and €10 a month for each additional seat. It is a workspace for recruiters and hiring managers: job requirements your team confirms, requirement coverage with quotes from each resume, side-by-side comparison against the same criteria, targeted interview questions, a pipeline that only people move, and notes and comments.
No. ATSCheck never makes hiring decisions, never automatically rejects or moves a candidate, and does not rank people by personality or culture fit. It ignores protected characteristics. It shows the evidence for each requirement so that people can review it and decide.
Yes. HR workspaces can delete individual candidates, their files and analyses, and whole jobs. Organisations can also set how long candidate data is kept.
PDF and DOCX files up to 5 MB, or you can paste your resume as text. Scanned PDFs that contain only images of text cannot be read reliably; export a text-based PDF or use DOCX instead.
